Soñando Tango Marathon in Amsterdam

Takes place in a wonderful location at the waters of the IJ: the Kompaszaal. Respectful, warm, balanced between leaders and followers, nationalities and age groups. Bringing together friends old and new. Good DJ's are the heart and great dancing in a relaxed atmosphere.

Address: De Kompaszaal, KNSM-Laan 311, 1019 LE, Amsterdam, Netherlands

We are looking forward to offer an event in a beautiful location; convenient times, good provisions, nice atmosphere, experienced international DJ’s with a ‘feel’ for the dancers. We are happy to welcome an international group of dancers, from all regions, with a nice quality of dance and social behavior. This will create a nice ronda and a weekend to remember!

For this edition again we will rent a wooden dancefloor.

DJ Team

dj massimo maugeri

Massimo Maugeri/Italy

Reporter, traveller and tango addict. I started dj’ing ten years ago and over these years I have had the opportunity (and luck) to play in the most relevant marathons and festival of the European tango scene. After such a long time I am still excited to makepeople dance because, maybe a dj can’t save your life, but when the night ends he can leave you smiling and happy. ‘Save the Planet, dance tango’ is my motto.

dj naoko

DJ Naoko's music selection is known as '100% Bailable!' as it's so irresistible and you cannot sit still. She is an expert in creating the right ambience for the moment and her hospitable spirit makes sure the experience is pleasurable. She connects and communicates with dancers through her music and lets it develop naturally. She loves seeing happy faces on the floor and considers DJ-ing her dream job.

Originally from Japan, she dived into the world of Tango soon after discovering the beauty of Argentina and its warmest people. After visiting a couple of times, she decided to spend more time in Buenos Aires to explore the world of Tango. Her love and passion for TANGO naturally led her to become a DJ. She held the sole resident DJ position at the very popular practica/milonga TANGOCOOL! (in Club Villa Malcolm) for four years, until it closed in 2013. She has been invited to DJ, not only in Buenos Aires, but also around the world. After living in Buenos Aires for seven years she moved her base to Europe in 2014. She is now based in Barcelona, Spain from where she continues to pursue her passion, actively DJ-ing all over the world.

dj who is next

Santiago Onel/Uruguay

Santiago started with tango more than 16 years ago in Uruguay. Having moved to Europe, he has been active as dancer, teacher and DJ. His way of DJing can be seen as the product of the influence of his native country, the regular visits to Buenos Aires and his life in Europe.

He believes that tango (including DJing) is a never ending learning process. His DJing is neither dogmatic nor tainted by an academic approach of playing unknown tangos just for the sake of it. His selection always looks to touch the heart of the milongueros and milongueras and keep them on the dance floor.

dj benedicte bomboncito

Bénédicte Bomboncito/Belgium

As a DJ, I first love to research the true energy of every song, to articulate them into a tanda that will tell you a story. When I play my selection, I like to lead you on a journey through your personal life experience, tanda after tanda, like day after day, emotion after emotion...
dj alex hawat

Alex Hawat/Lebanon

Alex first fell in love first with tango as a dance, shortly after, his passion for the music developed and he started to play tango music at milongas in New York in 2012 and later at local milongas and events in Beirut, Byblos, Riga, Istanbul, Budapest, Moscow and Saint Petersburg among other cities. He plays a variety of orchestras from the mid 20s till late 60s, with focus on managing dance floor energy and inspiring dancers.

His style is traditional and his philosophy is to give the dancers the chance to express themselves in every song and to enjoy the music (tandas and cortinas) when not dancing, allowing dancers with different style preferences to dance and explore from the start to the end of the milonga and usually even after.
